Transitional
Shaker doors, classic hardware, contemporary palette, the durable compromise.
Transitional borrows its structure from classic design, flat-frame shaker doors, restrained mouldings, and its palette from contemporary. It is deliberately a compromise, which is also why it dominates resale: it offends nobody and belongs to no particular decade.
Across Quebec's housing stock it adapts almost anywhere: as credible in a 1980s Laval cottage as in a Plateau triplex. It is the reasonable default when the house will be sold in ten years.

The honest limitation
